Can You Mix Fabuloso & Tide? (With Recipe!)

Can You Mix Fabuloso and Tide

Tide is a product marketed by Procter & Gamble that caters to different laundry needs such as removing stains and odors from clothes, and refreshing fabrics.

Fabuloso is a multi-surface cleaner used to clean hard nonporous surfaces. It is sold in a concentrated solution with a wide range of scents that cater to different people’s tastes.

Both of these products are very good at cleaning what they are marketed for but can these be mixed together to create a more effective cleaner?

Can You Mix Fabuloso and Tide?

Tide products (Tide powder, tide laundry pods, tide laundry detergent, etc.) can be mixed with Fabuloso cleaning products. The solution will increase the effectiveness of each of the products.

Many people use fabuloso to deodorize and remove stains from their laundry.

Avoid mixing the tide laundry products that have bleach with any of the fabuloso products. It is safe to mix bleach only with water unless you are a professional.

How Do Fabuloso Ingredients React with Tide?

Fabuloso products are made with a similar formulation. The only difference from one product line to another is the active acids in the bottles. Fabuloso ingredients include:

Water
Sodium
Sodium Dodecylbenzene sulfonate
Fragrance
C9-11 Pareth-8
Sodium C12-15 Pareth Sulfate
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Glutaral
Xanthan Gum
Colorants

Fabuloso has some ingredients that are crucial and repetitive in its range of products including Lactic acid, citric acid, and hydrogen peroxide, Sodium Dodecylbenzene sulfonate. We will be looking into how each of these ingredients reacts with tide.

1- Sodium Dodecylbenzene Sulfonate: It is a surfactant that works by lowering the surface tension and loosens dirt and stains. Apart from other cleaning products, It is also used in some laundry detergents.

However, if it is in small quantities such as in cleaning agents, it is stable enough to mix with cleaning agents containing sodium bromide without having an adverse effect.

2- Water: This is the liquid base used in most formulations and acts as a solvent in most cleaning products. It allows all the other ingredients to properly mix together.

3- Citric Acid: It acts as a pH adjuster and brings the laundry detergents’ alkaline pH closer to our natural skin pH. This reduces the likelihood of the laundry detergents being too harsh on our skin hence protecting it. Citric acid also adds to the protection of your washing machine making it last longer.

It does this by gently breaking down scum from the machine walls and clearing blockages that would otherwise destroy your machine.

Mixing Citric acid with detergent does not react adversely. In fact, it increases the effectiveness of the detergent.

4- Sodium Laureth Sulfate: This is a surfactant that produces foam. This is usually present in detergents, including laundry detergents.

5- Lactic Acid: In detergents, it is used as a soap scum remover and has anti-bacterial properties that add to the effectiveness of detergents and so when mixed with tide, lactic acid will add to its effectiveness.

It is also being used in an effort to use more environmentally friendly ingredients in soap making that are still as effective as chemically made ingredients.

However, it is not recommended that you use pure lactic acid in your soap as undiluted lactic acid can be harsh on the skin and cause irritation.

6- Hydrogen Peroxide: It is a very effective stain remover that can get rid of wine stains, grass stains, grease, and blood on fabrics. However, Hydrogen peroxide is not present in all Fabuloso products.

Hydrogen peroxide is a non-chlorine bleach and does not react badly with detergents. This can in fact whiten the laundry.

Caution: Do not mix hydrogen peroxide with tide products containing bleach or ammonia as it may release harmful gases and create a toxic mixture. The reaction can even lead to an explosion.

What Kind of Solution do you Get Upon Mixing These Two?

Mixing fabuloso and tide results in an effective solution that can be used to clean different surfaces. When they are mixed together, the solution is more effective than if the products are used individually to clean surfaces and remove stains.

The solution cuts through grease, lime and scale, wine stains, coffee stains, and others effectively. However, beware when mixing fabuloso with some of the tide products containing bleach or ammonia.

This is because the two ingredients will react adversely to being mixed with other cleaning agents.

Can You Use Tide to Clean Floors?

You can use tide laundry detergent to mop the floors of your entire house. It is usually used on hardwood, linoleum, ceramic tiles, and vinyl planks. Apart from being an effective floor cleaner, you can also use tide to remove stains from glass, porcelain, and mirrors.

To make this effective floor cleaner, add a teaspoon or two of tide laundry detergent to a gallon of water in a mop bucket and use it to mop your floors.

This concoction will effectively lift dirt from your floor and leave a fresh after scent. Make sure to only use a little detergent to avoid leaving soap streaks on your floors.

Wring the mop so that it is wet but not dripping, run it over your floors, and let your floors air dry. Try not to step on the surface that has been mopped so that it can dry evenly and not leave footprints on your floor.

Tide and Fabuloso Floor Cleaner Recipe

Tide and fabuloso, when mixed, create a powerful cleaner that has a great scent that is long-lasting.

1- To create this cleaner, mix fabuloso (preferably sparkling wave) with the tide powder detergent.
2- Add about a gallon and a half of warm or hot water to a bucket and dip your mop in the mixture.

You can also add 1 or 2 tide pods to make the scent of the mixture even stronger. Ensure that your mop is not dripping wet when you are mopping your floors.

3- Let your floors air dry. You will notice that your floors will be very shiny after.

What Should You Not Mix with Tide?

Tide is most popularly known as a laundry detergent. Laundry detergents should not be combined with the following:

Vinegar

Vinegar is acidic and detergent is alkaline, the mixture produces a neutral solution. Although people use vinegar and laundry detergent in a load, you should not mix these two. If you put vinegar during the cycle, you will get oily clothes.

Final Thoughts!

Fabuloso and tide are both effective cleaners on their own, but together, they make an even more powerful cleaner.
The solution has a better long-lasting scent and can even be used to lift stains easily from surfaces and fabrics, bringing the best of both products together.

Just remember to always check the ingredient list before mixing a tide product with fabuloso to avoid making a toxic solution.
