Good old Fabuloso makes your home smell so wonderful, so why not have the same fragrance in your car? After all, everyone appreciates a nice-smelling car! Can you use Fabuloso to clean the inside of your car? How much can you use? Find out in the article below.
Can You Use Fabuloso to Clean Car’s Interior?
Fabuloso can be used to clean some of the car’s interior parts but not all.
Fabuloso recommends their cleaner be used only on surfaces that are hard and non-porous. The components of a car are made of different materials, such as plastic, polyurethane, rubber, fabric, metal, and glass. Most of these can be cleaned using Fabuloso but not all.
Fabuloso on each Interior Component (Where to use & Where not to?)
Fabuloso multi-purpose cleaner is pH-neutral and does not contain bleach or ammonia. Fabuloso contains surfactants that help remove dirt and grime from the surface and also contains a viscosity modifier, a colorant, and fragrance.
The following are parts within the car and the type of material that they are made from. Whether the component can be cleaned with Fabuloso is also stated.
1- Cup holders – These are made of high-grade plastic.
Since plastic is non-porous, using Fabuloso to clean the cup holders is safe. The plastic will not be damaged.
2- Dashboard – This is made of molded plastic.
Fabuloso can be used to clean the dashboard. Make sure not to leave any Fabuloso residue on it after cleaning.
3- Steering wheel – Wrapped steering wheels are made of hard, molded plastic. Non-wrapped steering wheels are made of injection-molded polyurethane (a type of plastic). (Source)
Fabuloso can also be used to clean the steering wheel.
4- Glass – This is non-porous in nature
Fabuloso can be used to clean glass windows. If windows are tinted, clean them as per guidelines given by the manufacturer.
5- Car seats – These can be made of leather, fabric, and polyester. (Source)
Fabuloso is not recommended to be used on these items as they are porous. The sodium chloride found in Fabuloso can damage leather. Do not use Fabuloso wipes either to wipe the leather seats. The wipes contain ammonia which can ruin the leather seats by drying them out and causing cracks.
These products should be cleaned with cleaners designed for them.
6- Floor mats – These are usually made of synthetic rubber, fabric, or vinyl. (Source)
Do not use Fabuloso in the fabric floor mats as the fabric as well as rubber is porous (and soft too). For fabric floor mats, use a cleaner that is suitable for them. Vinyl is non-porous but it is not hard.
How To Clean a Car Interior Using Fabuloso?
The chore of cleaning a car’s interior can seem overwhelming. But it won’t take long if you have everything you need and the appropriate cleaning supplies. Follow the steps outlined below to get your car interior looking pristine.
STEP 1: Gather all the following cleaning supplies
- 2 Buckets (one containing Fabuloso and water, and one containing only water)
- Microfiber cloths
- Sponges
- Brush
- Gloves
- Fabuloso
- Upholstery and carpet cleaners
- Trash bag
- Vacuum cleaner
STEP 2: Gather all the trash from the car such as old receipts and food wrappers and empty it in the trash bag.
STEP 3: Remove the car seat (if any) and floor mats.
If the floor mats are non-porous, use Fabuloso and water to scrub them clean. Shake out the mats to remove the dirt. Mix 1/4 capful of Fabuloso in a gallon of water. Dip the brush and scrub the mats clean. Rinse them in water and let them air dry, while you start cleaning the interior.
STEP 4: Clean the pedals with the brush and water (remove the driver’s floor mat after cleaning the pedals).
STEP 5: Rinse out the dirty water and make another solution of Fabuloso and water.
STEP 6: Roll the windows down slightly. Dip a cloth in the bucket containing water and Fabuloso and gently wipe the windows from the top. Wipe the windows again using a different cloth and water to remove any residue.
STEP 7: Start cleaning the non-porous components such as the steering wheel, indicators, gear, handbrake, dashboard, AC vents, other controls, and cupholders. Use the Fabuloso solution and a microfiber cloth or sponge. Re-wipe the areas again with just a cloth and water to remove any soapy residue.
STEP 8: Clean the inside of the door as well, including the armrest, door handles, and pockets. Rinse off the residue using a clean cloth.
STEP 9: Vacuum the car seats thoroughly to remove dirt and dust. Use a cleaner that is specific to the type of car seat material you have. Let the seats air dry.
STEP 10: Vacuum the floor of the car thoroughly as well, especially under the seats.
STEP 11: Finally, clean the boot of the car. Remove any trash and vacuum if necessary. Wipe the non-porous areas with the Fabuloso solution. Rinse again with clean water.
STEP 12: Return the car mats after they are thoroughly dry.
STEP 13: Remember to close the windows after you have finished cleaning the car.
You must rinse off the areas you have cleaned with Fabuloso, so as not to leave any residue behind. Fabuloso should not be heated, as it can release a stronger scent that can become an irritant. Keeping a car cool all the time is not possible, so it is better to rinse off any Fabuloso residue with clean water.
Fabuloso is not the best thing to clean your car’s exterior.
Final Thoughts!
Remember to use Fabuloso only for hard non-porous surfaces of the car. For the most part, these will be cup holders, steering wheel, dashboard, and the inside glass, but not floor mats and car seats. Always wipe up any spills as soon as possible to avoid stains occurring and the smell from settling in. Do not leave the Fabuloso bottle in the car.
