How to Get Rid of Fabuloso Smell? (5 Ways)

Fabuloso is a great cleaner but the scents tend to be overwhelming for some people. If that is the case, you can always get rid of the smell after cleaning.

The cheapest way to do this is to ventilate the area. Turn on your fans, and air conditioners and open all windows. But it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a whole day before the smell completely vanishes which may be too long for you. So let’s take a look at other methods of doing this which will work quickly.

Method 1: Baking Soda

Baking soda is alkaline which makes it perfect for getting rid of odors and unwanted smells. Usually, people have it readily available in their homes. Even if not, It is easily available and cheap.

You’ll Need

Baking soda
Vinegar
Soft napkin

Steps

Step 1- Sprinkle some baking soda on the surfaces you cleaned with Fabuloso. Spread the baking soda to ensure it covers the whole surface. Sprinkle more if necessary.

Step 2- Leave the baking soda on for about two or three hours on the surface. The smell of Fabuloso is strong and lingers because there are residues on the surface you cleaned. Baking soda will soak up the residue.

Step 3- Use a soft napkin (wet with vinegar) to clean up the baking soda. And that’s all. The odor will be gone.

Method 2: Essential Oils

These are concentrated extracts of plants which means they are natural, safe, and good for the environment. Because they are concentrated, they get rid of odors effectively.

You’ll Need

Spray bottle
Essential oils
Warm water
Dishtowel
Dish soap

Steps

Step 1- Pour warm water into a 16 oz bottle and add about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. To get a strong smell, you can use two different strong-smelling essential oils, 5 drops for each. Lemon, tea tree, orange, lavender, etc. are examples of essential oils with strong smells.

Step 2- You can add 2 or 3 drops of dishwashing liquid soap if you wish. Shake the bottle and spray it on the surface cleaned with Fabuloso.

Step 3- Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then wipe it off with a clean dish towel.

You can also get rid of the Fabuloso smell with essential oils by diffusing. Put 3 or 4 drops of the essential oil into the diffuser after adding water. Plug it in and turn on the diffuser. The Fabuloso smell should get masked within 1 or 2 of diffusing.

Method 3: Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide does not just remove stubborn stains and grime, it deodorizes too. But test it in a small area first because it is a strong chemical. You can use it alone, and you can mix it with vinegar or baking soda for more effectiveness.

You’ll Need

Hydrogen peroxide
Vinegar/baking soda
Dish soap
Dishtowel

Steps

Step 1- Mix 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide with 1 part vinegar in a spray bottle. If you are mixing it with baking soda, mix 2 cups of 3% hydrogen peroxide with two tables spoons of baking soda. Then add 1 teaspoon of dish soap.

Step 2- Shake what you mixed well and spray the surface you cleaned with Fabuloso or where Fabuloso spilled.

Step 3- Wait for about 10 minutes for the solution to properly work.

Step 4- Use a damp dish towel to clean the area thoroughly.

Method 4: Activated Charcoal

Compared to the other methods, this is more effective because it doesn’t mask smells but absorbs them completely. And it can remove all kinds of odors from a room. You can get it in different forms.

Activated charcoal bags
Activated charcoal bags come in different sizes and look lovely. You can place them anywhere in your home to absorb odor.

Activated carbon/ charcoal filters
Instead of bags or pouches, this looks like a sieve in square shapes. The charcoal is inside the filter and traps odor.

Naked activated charcoal
You can also buy natural activated charcoal, let it sit on a tray, and put it somewhere in the room. It will absorb the Fabuloso odor in the air and the room will have no scent.

Activated charcoal works well because it has an increased surface area. It has been treated with oxygen to open up its pores and they trap odors effectively. (Source) When air passes through the filter, the odor and gas molecules stick to the surface of the charcoal and are trapped.

Method 5: Vodka

This is a potent spirit that cleans, disinfects, and also deodorizes. And the great thing is, you don’t need to rinse or wipe it off.
Spray undiluted vodka on the surface you cleaned with Fabuloso. It gathers the odorants in the Fabuloso residue causing the smell, and as it evaporates, it takes them along.

Inhaled a Cleaning Product? Here’s What to Do!

1- Ventilation: When this happens, ventilate the area you are in. Open all windows, turn on fans and remove any tight clothing you may be wearing or loosen it up if possible. This helps you breathe more freely.

2- Open space: Breathing in the fresh air in an open area will help a lot. Don’t stay in a confined or small space. This can make the cleaning product more concentrated and cause more harm. You shouldn’t even continue to stay in the same place with the cleaning product.

3- Get Help: If you experience symptoms like coughing, loss of breath, vomiting, etc. after inhaling the cleaning product, you should call for help or go to a hospital if you can. If what you inhaled is a mixture of cleaning products that produced toxic gas, you need to act fast. Don’t wait till the symptoms get serious before calling for help.

Final Thoughts!

It is easy to get rid of the strong smell of Fabuloso by using simple household products such as baking soda, Hydrogen peroxide or essential oils, etc. If you inhale Fabuloso or any other cleaning product, you should ask for help immediately.
